  Anwuka chetachi assumpta 2016054027DE

We are still celebrating these students of the Department of Mass Communication, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), who have made history as the first to win prizes made up of agricultural products, an action described as ‘strange’ but exciting awards in an academic environment.

These students emerged tops in a competition that lasted for two months in their school. They received live fowl, yam tubers, paw paw and catfish as their awards as a new method of promoting Agriculture in Nigeria, especially among the youth, the organisers of the event said.

The top three candidates in all categories

Their lecturer, Dr. Chinenye Nwabueze who organised the event in partnership with massmediang.com, insisted that students should be celebrated and honoured whenever they do something exceptional. These students are really exceptional as was shown during the award giving ceremony which took place on Wednesday, November 22 at the Francis Oladele stand of their departmental complex. They were selected as best students during the massmediang.com award of excellence in three categories – New Media Reporting, Newspaper Production, and Magazine Cover Design. This is not a competition in writing theory. It was a practical exercise and they showed class in this area.

Note these names and watch-out for them in future – (For in New Media Reporting Category) – Judith Muoneke, Immaculata Nweke, Onyinye Nwankwo, Bobmanuel Nnebulu, Chetachi Anwuka, Onyinye Emenanjo, Joseph Agu, Chikodiri Nnadozie, Chiemena Alia, and Emmanuel Obinwanne.

The top three candidates in all categories

(For Best in Magazine cover design category) – Progress Buruche, Ngozi Nwoka, Chinaza Ezenwobi, Mmesoma Okoye and Chioma Chikaogwu.
